Leadership

Over the past several years, the Darien Athletic Foundation has made a name for itself in the community as an organization intended to further athletics in the community. Up to this point, the greatest effort and achievement of the DAF is its spearheading of the lights campaign at Darien High School. As fall sports started in 2017, they did so with lights over the turf in the stadium, and the ability for the athletes to experience home night games. Since then, a new venture has become the calling card for the DAF—live streaming. News Article: Damian Andrew and DAF live-streaming DHS games

DAF Media is managed by Damian Andrew who has extensive experience and achievement as a two-time Emmy Award-winning Sports Anchor/Reporter most recently with News 12 Connecticut. Damian joined DAF Media at its formation in September 2017. He teaches and mentors the volunteer staff in producing several live, high-quality broadcasts per week. Since its founding, DAF Media has broadcast over three hundred community events. Viewing is free via YouTube (www.YouTube.com/DAF-Media) and can be watched live or on-demand.

“My favorite memory has to be when we were awarded a Student Production Award by the New England Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. I was incredibly happy for all of the students involved in DAF Media. To win the equivalent of a ‘Student Emmy’ in the organization’s third year of existence was quite an accomplishment.”
— Damian Andrew, DAF Media Director “Our very first Turkey Bowl broadcast in the fall of 2018. Obviously, the annual football game between Darien and New Canaan is a huge sporting event in Connecticut. It was a frigid Thanksgiving Day at Stamford’s Boyle Stadium. Thousands of fans were in attendance. We collaborated with students from New Canaan’s NCTV program to pull off a professional-looking broadcast that had thousands of views.”

"Damian is one of the most genuine guys I've ever met. Whenever I have a problem, or even just a general question, Damian is someone I can go to for anything. Thank you for everything you've done for me."

― Charlie S.

"What I liked most about joining DAF Media is the community. I made lots of friends and had fun while volunteering with Damian and Bruce."
